FRUITS YOU MUST BEAR
This topic is a very important one which should be read
patiently and carefully. As a result, I advise that you take your time to read
every word.
Now,
What is a fruit?
A fruit is any sweet, edible part of a plant that is often colourful
and fragrant. It is the seed bearing part of a plant. A fruit can also be
regarded as a positive end result or reward of labour and effort. As God’s
children, it is expected of us to bring forth fruits. These are no other
fruits but that of the spirit.
THE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT.
Love
It does not keep track of people’s wrong doings(1st peter 13:1-8). Love is God(1st John 4:8) and does not look for its own interest alone(John 3:16).
Joy
In the presence of God, there is joy (Psalm 16:11). It is the smile we
have inside, no matter what happens around us. A biblical example of someone
who had joy was David.
Peace
Thou will keep him in perfect
peace, whose mind is stayed in thee: because he trusted in thee -Isaiah 26:3
You can only know peace when you trust that God is in
control. Jesus was peaceful wherever he was that he even went to the extent of commanding
the storm to be calm (Mark 4:39, John 14:27.)
Patience
It is trusting God to do something in his right time (psalm 37:7). It also means,
waiting with the right attitude just like Noah who waited in patience for 120
years before the flood (Genesis 7: 10)
Goodness
We should base our thoughts on God’s goodness (Genesis 1:1-4), Matthew 4:24-25). We
should have goodness in our lives and good actions for everyone to see.
Gentleness
Be gentle towards others with your words and actions. Proverbs 15:1
Self control
This helps us to master our words, desires, passion, thoughts
and actions (Titus 2:12).
Faith
It simply means having confidence in God and believing
things that are yet to be.
Meekness
Meekness produces gentleness. In our relationship with man,
we can portray meekness by being humble, gentle and respectful. Also, meekness
is needed in our relationship with God and this can be done by being responsive and teachable
‘To keep bringing forth fruit, imagine yourself to be a branch
and stay attached to the vine, the true vine , Jesus’- Oyibo Daniel
